CALL TOPIC: Stop the Trump administration from spying on us without a warrant under Section 702 of the FISA Amendments Act. Vote NO on S. 139, which contains the FISA Amendments Reauthorization Act and leaves the backdoor search loophole open for abuse by government agents. Replace the flawed FISA portion of S. 139 with the USA Rights Act H.R. 4124/S. 1997 to help close the backdoor search loophole.
1)Let’s call Congressman Smith’s office in D.C. at 202-225-3765…
Caller: Hello, I am a constituent of Rep. Smith’s ; may I speak with the staffer who handles Constitutional issues?”
Caller: I want to urge Rep. Smith not to reauthorize Section 702 of the FISA Amendments without closing the “backdoor search” loophole. In support of this reform, Rep. Smith should vote NO today on S. 139 with the FISA Amendments Reauthorization Act, unless the Amash amendment passes. The Amash amendment would would replace the flawed FISA portion of S. 139 with the USA Rights Act H.R. 4124. H.R. 4124 provides reforms to protect me from unconstitutional searches under Section 702. It ends backdoor searches and examination of communications without a warrant. Let Section 702 expire or pass H.R. 4124. Thank you.
2)Let’s call our Senators (Booker D.C. 202-224-3224, Newark 973-639-8700; Menendez D.C. 202-224-4744, Newark 973-645-3030)…
Caller: Hello, I am a constituent of the Senator’s; may I speak with the staffer who handles Constitutional issues?”
Caller: I urge Senator Booker/Menendez to cosponsor and vote YES on S. 1997, the USA Rights Act, and protect my Constitutional right to privacy. This bill provides reforms to protect me from unconstitutional searches under Section 702. It ends backdoor searches and examination of communications without a warrant. Let Section 702 expire or pass S. 1997.
