VOTE TODAY: END U.S. SUPPORT FOR WAR CRIMES IN YEMEN!

CALL TOPIC
Today the Senate is expected to vote on S.J. Res. 54, a bipartisan resolution introduced by Senators Sanders (I-VT) and Lee (R-UT) to end U.S. participation in the Yemen civil war. If passed by both chambers of Congress, the resolution would declare the U.S. participation in the Yemen war unauthorized, and would end American support for Saudi war crimes.
*Senator Booker has cosponsored the resolution, so we need to ensure that Senator Menendez will also be a firm YES vote today.

CALL SCRIPT
1) Let’s call our Senators (Booker D.C. 202-224-3224, Newark 973-639-8700; Menendez D.C. 202-224-4744, Newark 973-645-3030)…

Caller: Hello, I am a constituent of the Senator’s; may I speak with the staffer who handles military actions?

I’m calling with my support for S.J. Res. 54, to end our unauthorized war in Yemen. Congress has never authorized this war, and evidence shows that the airstrikes the U.S. is supporting are causing a humanitarian crisis and may amount to war crimes. The chaos has allowed terror groups such as ISIS and Al Qaeda affiliates to gain more power and land.

Please ask Senator Menendez to vote YES on this resolution when it comes to the floor for a vote. Congress must exercise its constitutional power and end this unauthorized war.

Please thank Senator Booker for cosponsoring this resolution. I strongly support his YES vote to end this unauthorized war.

2) Let’s call Congressman Smith’s office in D.C. at 202-225-3765

Caller: Hello, I am a constituent of Rep. Smith’s; may I speak with the staffer who handles military actions?

I’m calling with my support for H.Con. Res. 81, to end our unauthorized war in Yemen. Congress has never authorized this war, and evidence shows that the airstrikes the U.S. is supporting are causing a humanitarian crisis and may amount to war crimes. The chaos has allowed terror groups such as ISIS and Al Qaeda affiliates to gain more power and land.

Please ask Rep. Smith to cosponsor and vote YES on this resolution when it comes to the floor for a vote. Congress must exercise its constitutional power and end this unauthorized war.
